The Tawn Box was engaged to re-imagine the hotel's architectural identity and interior atmosphere, blending regional Himalayan architectural traditions with contemporary resort luxury.
The architectural intervention responds directly to Chamba's steep terraced mountain landscape and climatic demands. The building envelope utilizes pitched gabled rooflines designed to shed heavy monsoon rainfall and winter frost naturally. The exterior façade integrates regional stone masonry at the plinth level with rich timber-accented upper storeys, honoring traditional Pahari craftsmanship while presenting a clean modern hospitality profile.
The spatial layout is optimized to orient guest suites, dining verandas, and social spaces directly toward the sweeping mountain vistas. The guest rooms feature generous floor plans with panoramic picture windows and private step-out balconies. The central reception lobby introduces guests to a warm, inviting ambience anchored by rich timber woodwork, local stone accents, and custom ambient lighting.
Due to high-altitude mountain temperature variations, the project incorporated multi-layer thermal insulation within exterior wall assemblies and roof cavities. High-grade double-glazed window units minimize thermal loss during chilly mountain evenings. Interior woodwork utilizes treated seasoned timber resistant to humidity fluctuations, while heavy-duty anti-skid natural stone flooring ensures safety across exterior walkways and decks.
